What is LEED Certification?

The US Green Building Council (USGBC) has set standards and developed a rating system for both new and existing buildings which ensure that a structure meets important "green" benchmarks.  LEED ratings are the most highly regarded and recognized certifications in green building design, construction, and maintenance.  To receive a LEED certification, many times the guidelines require specific maintenance protocols such as using non-toxic cleaners, establishing effective recycling systems, and considering the reuse and longevity of maintenance products.
